Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate and talented DevOps Engineer to join our team in a collaborative, fast-moving environment leveraging the best components of the Ruby-on-Rails ecosystem to deliver high-quality solutions to our customers.

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with software engineering and other company functions to deploy, operate, automate and streamline our systems operations and processes, as well as with IT personnel at the customers’ end. You will build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. In addition troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take a major part in managing and improving our multi-account AWS setup and IaC

  • Take part in creating and improving BioData’s gitops and CI/CD flows

  • Work with Jenkins - administration and DevOps jobs

  • Be a first responder to alerts and notifications from security, application, and infrastructure monitoring tools

  • Research and find cost optimization opportunities, performance issues, and other findings

  • Research logs from SIEM tools to find suspicious patterns, bugs, and security holes

  • Research and implement new AWS services for performance and cost optimization

  • Develop automation for manual operations

  • Implementation SOC using SIEM tools and platforms for automation in operations, monitoring, and security

  • Create monitoring dashboards in logzio, cloudwatch, prometheus (future)

  • Complete recurring tasks for security policy compliance and ISO schedule (for example: keys rotation, AWS services upgrades, log reviews). Automate these tasks where possible, step by step improve BioData’s AWS cloud operation and management

  • Find, investigate and compare solutions and tools to optimize BioData’s security posture, productivity, compliance and cost

Qualifications & Skills

    • 3+ years of industry experience in a broad DevOps position - Must

    • Substantial AWS experience - Must

    • Strong background in Linux/Unix (Ubuntu) Administration

    • Production experience with web application infrastructure (web server, CDN, Load balancers, cache) - Must

    • Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code - Must

    • Kubernetes - Big advantage

    • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

    • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

    • Capable of automating tasks with shell and python/ruby/go scripts

    • Experience in large AWS deployments - advantage

    • Experience with regulatory compliance issues, as well best practices in application and network security. Ideally, the candidate should have some experience as a CISO

    • Managerial experience - advantage
